Lot Description

An Edwardian silver Warwick vase by Edward Barnard & Sons, having a bead and ovolo moulded rim above lion pelts to the main body and applied with Bacchanalian heads and flambé torches within trailing vine, grape and acanthus leaf borders, having two entwined vine handles and the whole raised on a pedestal stem to a circular foot and square base with later presentation and name engravings. Hallmarked London 1903. Mounted on a stepped wooden plinth with engraved presentation plaques. Maximum height excluding plinth measures 8 1/4 inches (21 cm), silver weight 63.04 ozt (1961 grams).

The vase appears in good overall condition, displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Residues of polish to some areas. Some small dints around the rim of the square base. Later engraved names and dates. The hallmarks appear a little rubbed but are still legible. General wear to the wooden plinth base with various nicks and chips to edges and corners.
