Two 19th century inlaid walnut boxes. The first with hinged rectangular cover centred by a panel depicting an eagle holding a banner with motto 'FORGET ME NOT', within geometric marquetry border of stars and crosses flanked by parallel chequer stringing, echoed to the sides, 13" x 8.5" x 4" high, (33cm x 22cm x 10cm), together with a second example having marquetry stars to hinged cover, (2).

1st - slight loss to stringing. One half of one hinge missing. Crack to rear panel. Possibly slight shrinkage to cover. 2nd - Minor crack to back edge of cover. Rear panel coming away from side so needs clamping.
