A late Victorian silver and gold, gem-set butterfly brooch. Of bi-colour design, the circular-shape ruby and sapphire abdomen, with similarly-shaped ruby, sapphire and rose-cut diamond openwork wings. Length 4.5cms. Weight 18.6gms.

<li>Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
<li> Areas of localised scratching to the reverse of the pin.<p>
<li>Diamonds fairly bright.<p>
<li>Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.<p>
<li> The cut and setting of rose cut diamonds prevents total carat weight estimation. <p>
<li>Rubies medium slight pinkish red to slight orangish red, fairly well saturated, with fair clarity and typical inclusions.<p>
<li>Sapphires medium blue, fairly well saturated, with fair clarity and typical inclusions.<p>
<li>Stones in fair condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges.<p>
<li> With detachable pin.<p>
<li> With later safety chain.<p>
