BLANCPAIN - a gentleman's Polish Naval issue Fifty Fathoms wrist watch. Stainless steel case with calibrated bezel. Numbered MW7346 206226. Signed automatic AS calibre 2063 with quick date set. Black dial with luminous hour markers, "No radiations" symbol to six, date aperture to three. Fitted to an unsigned perforated black leather strap with nickel plated pin buckle. 42mm.<p>
<p>Produced by Blancpain for the French Navy's elite Combat Divers in 1953, the orders were fulfilled via Paris-based diving equipment company Spirotechnique. Through them the watch came to the attention of Jacques Cousteau, appearing on the diver's wrist during the Oscar-Winning film 'Silent World' Other navies adopted the watch including the Polish, who this watch was issued to.
