ROLEX - a gentleman's "Paul Newman" Cosmograph Daytona chronograph bracelet watch. Circa 1969. Stainless steel case with tachymeter bezel. Reference 6239, serial 2048291. Signed manual wind calibre 722-1. "Exotic" dial with luminous dot hour markers, subsidiary black recorder dials to three, six and nine. Fitted to a signed stainless steel Oyster bracelet with Oysterclasp. 36mm.<p>
<p>The first Rolex Cosmograph chronograph watch, the reference 6239, was launched in 1960. Later named the 'Daytona' in connection with the American racetrack, it was available with a 'standard' or 'exotic' dial. Paul Newman's name became forever linked with the watch when he was pictured wearing the 6239 'exotic' in a photoshoot.

<li>Movement is currently functioning. The chronograph counts one minute, but the hour counter has not been tested due to time constraints.
<li>Movement has scratches, marks and tarnishing commensurate with general wear visible to the naked eye.
<li>Dial appears to be in a generally good condition with light marks visible when viewed under a 4x loupe.
<li>Hands show marks and tarnishing when viewed under a x4 loupe.
<li>Glass has some scratches and marks when viewed under a 4x loupe.
<li>Case appears to be in good condition with minor scratches and marks.
<li>Crown screws down and has light scratches and marking.
<li>Bracelet has light scratches and some signs of light stretching to links.
<li>Clasp is currently functioning and shows light scratches and marks.
<li>Bracelet measures approximately 16cm including case.<p>
<p>This lot comes with a box signed Bucherer but no papers.<p>
