Lot 217

Lot Description

A late Victorian silver tea caddy, the bombé shape embellished with foliate, shell and scroll motifs, the hinged lid with conforming decoration and a palmette style finial. Hallmarked Thomas Bradbury & Sons, London 1897. Maximum height including finial measuring 5 1/2 inches (14 cm), weight 9.31 ozt (289.7 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The caddy appears in good overall condition, displaying some general tarnishing, surface marks and scratches. A few minor surface dints/nicks. The hinged lid appears in good working order although it does not sit quite flush, leaving a slight gap. The finial leans back a little so it is possible that it may have been knocked as there is a split in the metal at the join?  Hallmarks are located to underside of base and are clear and legible, also clear part hallmarks to lid.
