Lot Description
A late Victorian miniature silver chamberstick, the circular base with ring handle and flat top thumb-rest, the vase shape socket to the centre having a removable nozzle and conical shape extinguisher, with reeded border decoration throughout. Hallmarked London 1896, maker's mark partly worn but probably Holland, Aldwinckle & Slater, also impressed retailer's mark. Base diameter measuring 3 1/4 inches (8.2 cm), weight 3.25 ozt (101.3 grams).

Condition Report
Displaying general expected tarnishing, wear, surface marks and scratches consistent with the age and use. Seam visible to extinguisher. Some rubbing and distortion to hallmarks but mostly legible. Corresponding hallmarks to removable parts. Extinguisher also later initialled and dated 1902. Retailer's mark to base 'J. Parkes 12 Vico? Street W'.
