Lot Description

A 1930's silver twin-handled trophy cup, the circular bowl with laurel leaves and dual engraved inscriptions, the fluted and embossed knopped stem leading to a splayed square plinth foot with egg and dart pattern, hallmarked Manoah Rhodes & Sons Ltd., Sheffield 1939. Height measures 5 5/8 inches (14.5 cm), weight 14.7 ozt (457.1 grams).

In good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Probably had a cover which is not present. Minor loss of definition to the engraved decoration. Engraved to opposing sides with 'The Yorkshire Observer Hospital Golf Trophy 1940.' and 'Northcliffe Golf Club 1940 H.K Watson.' The base is slightly wobbly. Hallmarks clear and legible, also engraved 'Mandah Rhodes & Sons Ltd Bradford' beneath the base.
