Lot Description

A George III silver wine funnel, the tapered form with applied monogrammed cartouche, reeded rim and detachable sieve. Hallmarked Peter, Ann & William Bateman, London probably 1802. Height measuring 6 inches (15 cm), weight 3.7 ozt (117 grams).

The lot displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing. Solder seam with pitting visible to the neck of the funnel also to the clip on the sieve. It is likely that the end of the spout has been filed down slightly, however it does retain a curve. Hallmarks worn, only partly legible to the main body, lion passant and maker's mark only to the sieve.
