Lot Description
A late Victorian silver rattle, the foliate embossed body surmounted with a whistle and ring handle, the central knop suspending two bells (two missing), hallmarked George Unite, Birmingham 1874, length inclusive of handle measuring 4 1/8 inches (10.5 cm). Together with a selection of eight assorted silver thimbles, various dates and maker's marks, two marked Sterling silver, plus two plated examples. Gross weighable silver 2.05 ozt (63.7 grams).

Condition Report
In varied state, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The rattle is missing two of the suspension bells from the central knop, the ring handle appears unmarked, hallmarks to the body worn but still legible. The thimbles have various hallmarks including Birmingham, Chester and Sheffield, some Edwardian examples, two thimbles marked Sterling silver, one of which has a small hole to the top and is squashed in shape.
