Lot Description

A 1930's silver card case holder, the dual hinged folding form with engine-turned decoration and personal inscription to the cartouche, hallmarked Deakin & Francis Ltd., Birmingham 1930, length measures 3 3/8 inches (8.7 cm). Together with a modern silver money clip, hallmarked Harrison Brothers & Howson Ltd., Birmingham 1988, two late Victorian silver and mother-of-pearl folding fruit knives, hallmarked Sheffield 1895 & 1897, a further silver mounted fruit knife, a Sheaffer U.S.A pen marked Sterling silver, etc. Gross weighable silver 3.1 ozt (96.79 grams).

In varied condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The card case is engraved with 'L.F. 1931' to the cartouche, the front silver piece has lifted slightly from the side hinge, minor loss of definition to the engine-turned decoration with some visible file marks, patent number indistinct, hallmarks worn but still legible. The money clip has a vacant cartouche. The blade of the smaller fruit knife is loose with heavier tarnishing and has the initials 'T. P' engraved to the oval cartouche. The silver mounted knife has a steel blade which appears rusty and unable to fold out. The pen is not in working order and its clip is loose, marked Sheaffer U.S.A Sterling Silver, also stamped 925 alongside London Import marks. Other hallmarks clear and legible.
