An early Victorian silver vinaigrette by Nathaniel Mills, the oblong form with floral and scroll engraving surrounding an initialled cartouche to the top, opening to reveal a silver-gilt pierced grille, hallmarked Nathaniel Mills, Birmingham 1848, length measuring 4 cm. Together with a silver mounted purse of rectangular form with attached chain and finger-ring and central vacant cartouche surrounded by floral and scroll engraving, opening to reveal a concertina lined interior, hallmarked Chester 1919 and a silver stamp case. Gross weight 4.08 ozt (126.9 grams). (3).

Condition Report
In fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The vinaigrette grille is stiff to open and lift and slightly dips inwards, the interior has residue from the sticky sponge which is still present, requires a clean, repairs around the hinge, engraved 'A.S.H?' to the cartouche, case does not sit fully flush, the suspension loop appears later added. The concertina lined interior of the purse has splits between the creases and folds, visible stains to the back of the silver mount which has a minor dent near the corner. Minor dent and split to the stamp case. Maker's mark is indistinct on the purse, all other hallmarks clear and legible.
