Lot Description

A George III silver novelty caddy spoon, modelled in the form of a shovel with bright-cut decoration, hallmarked William Pugh, Birmingham 1811, length measuring 3 1/2 inches (9 cm). Together with a silver serving spoon with initialled terminal, hallmarked Jonathan Hayne, London 1826, a silver mustard spoon of Fiddle pattern with crested terminal, London 1843 and a silver mounted hand mirror embossed with floral and scroll motifs surrounding a central vacant cartouche, Birmingham 1905. Gross weighable silver 2.6 ozt (82.2 grams).

In fair to good condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Minor bumps to the bowl of the caddy spoon, heavier dents to the terminal which has a vacant cartouche. Areas of the silver mount on the hand mirror have come away with visible holes and splits and flatness to the decoration. Considerable damage to the mirror plate. Hallmarks slightly worn but legible.
