Lot 15

Lot Description

A George II silver sparrow beak cream jug, engraved with flowers, foliage and scroll motifs surrounding a diaper pattern shield and two vacant cartouche, with a foliate capped scroll handle. Hallmarked Peze? Pilleau, London 1743. Maximum height including handle measures 3 1/2 inches (9 cm), weight 3.21 ozt (100 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The jug appears quite tarnished throughout and would benefit from a clean and polish. General surface wear, marks and scratches. There is a shallow dent to the main body and a few further minor dints. Also a couple of slight knocks to the foot rim. The main rim appears a little out of shape and there appears to be a seam repair. The hallmarks are located to the underside of the jug, there is some rubbing and the maker's mark is partly distorted but mostly clear and legible. In addition to the hallmarks, it is also engraved 'P' above 'P M'.
