Lot Description
An early Victorian silver trophy vase of campana form, embossed with bands of trailing and fruiting vines surrounding various presentation engravings. Hallmarked London 1839 with maker's mark W.H, possibly for William Hewitt. Height measuring 7 3/4 inches (19.7 cm), gross weight 12.61 ozt (392 grams).
Main inscription 'Royal Kingston on Thames Regatta 1858 Local Tradesmen Sculls Won by Edwin Wells.'
Other inscriptions 'The Presidents Inter City Bowling Championship Cup' and 'Foundation Companies Canada Ontario Hockey Cup'.

Condition Report
The vase displays some expected general wear, tarnishing, surface marks and scratches. Interior was likely once gilded but this is now faded. A few minor dints. The hallmarks are clear and legible, main rubbing is to the leopard head. There is still a metal bracket attached to the underside indicating that it was probably mounted on a plinth.
