Lot Description
An Edwardian silver mounted heavy glass ink well, the square clear glass form with canted corners and cut grooves to the top, with plain silver collar and circular flat hinged lid opening to a smaller glass well to interior. Hallmarked John Grinsell & Sons, Birmingham 1904. Measuring 4 inches (10 cm) square.

Condition Report
Ink well displays general surface wear, marks and scratches. Some tarnishing to the silver mounts. The hinged lid appears in good working order, although a slight gap remains on one side when in the closed position. Some heavier staining or tarnishing to lid reverse. Hallmarks are clear and legible, a little rubbing to maker's marks although still legible. Part hallmarks to lid. A notable chip to one top corner of the glass. Further smaller edge chips and nibbles and many heavier scratches and contact marks to underside of base.
