Lot Description

An early twentieth century plain silver hip flask, the rounded rectangular form initial engraved 'A.E' to the front and having a bulbous hinged lid with bayonet locking mechanism. Hallmarked Mappin & Webb Ltd., London 1919. Maximum height measuring 6 3/8 inches (16.2 cm), gross weight 5.98 ozt (186 grams).

Hip flask appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some general wear, tarnishing, surface marks and scratches. A couple of minor dints. Likely repairs along seam on one side. Hinged lid and locking mechanism appear in good working order. The cork is in pieces and there is a white disc covering them. Hallmarks a little rubbed bit still clear and legible, some distortion to maker's marks.
