Lot 468

Lot Description

A late Victorian silver playing card case, the plain rectangular form with hinged lid opening to a twin compartment interior. Hallmarked Samuel Jacob, London 1897. Measuring 3 inches (7.5 cm) by 2 1/8 inches (5.5 cm), gross weight 3.5 ozt (109 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The box displays some surface scratches, marks and nicks throughout and a few minor dints. Some tarnishing or staining, heavier to the interior, and would benefit from a clean. Hinged lid and clasp appear in good working order and it closes well. Hallmarked to various parts, all legible with some slight rubbing, especially to maker's marks. There are some playing cards inside the box, not a complete set and some in poor condition.
