Lot 58

Lot Description

A pair of late Victorian silver pierced dishes, each of oval form with embossed flowerhead and foliate motifs to the decorative pierced sides and raised on four similarly pierced splay feet. Hallmarked Carrington & Co (John Bodman Carrington), London 1894. Length measures 5 1/2 inches (14 cm), weight 6.92 ozt (215 grams).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

Both dishes appear in fairly good overall condition displaying some general surface wear, marks and scratches, also light tarnishing. Some minor breaks/losses to the pierced decoration and a couple of minor dints to plain centres. There is a slight difference between the dishes as one has additional pierced sections around the rim while the other is more solid. Otherwise the decoration to both is matching. One of the dishes wobbles a little. The hallmarks are clear and legible, some slight rubbing to maker's marks.
