Lot Description
An early Victorian silver vinaigrette, the oval form with scalloped edge, engine-turned decoration with initialled cartouche to the underside and engraved coastal scene to the front, opening to a silver-gilt interior with pierced grille. Hallmarked Nathaniel Mills, Birmingham 1846. Length measuring 4.8 cm, weight 22.3 grams.

Condition Report
The lot displays general scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. The underside is a little concave to each side. Gilding worn. Solder visible on the seams on the interior. Lid rises slightly in the closed position. Interior hinge allows some sideways movement. File mark to the inner rim corner, run of solder to the opposite corner. Hallmarks clear and legible.
