Lot Description

An early 20th century gold, diamond and gem-set snake pendant. The engraved head with sugarloaf emerald cabochon crest and ruby eyes, tapered to the cushion-shape ruby and vari-cut diamond coiled body. Estimated total diamond weight 1.50cts. Length of pendant 6.2cms. Weight 17.1gms.

<li> Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear. <p>

<li>Pendant has been converted from a slider.

<li> End of tail has a later addition base metal addition jump ring terminal. <p>

<li> With fabric strip. <p>

<li> Emerald slightly bluish-green, well saturated, with fair to poor clarity and typical inclusions, some of which are surface reaching and may result in future durability issues. <p>

<li> Rubies vary slightly in appearance. <p>

<li> Rubies light to medium purplish-red and pinkish-red, well to moderately well saturated, with fair clarity and typical inclusions, some of which are surface reaching. <p>

<li> Estimated total diamond weight prevents total carat weight estimation. <p>

<li> Diamond vary in appearance. <p>

<li> Diamonds fairly bright. <p>

<li> Light and dark coloured inclusions can be seen to some diamonds with the naked eye, some inclusions with similar appearance can only be seen under 10X magnification. <p>

<li> Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment. <p>

<li> Stones in good, fair and poor condition with some abrasion and minor nibbles to the girdle and facet edges. Some diamond are heavily chipped affecting the appearance to the naked-eye. <p>
