Lot Description

A late Victorian 9ct gold diamond snake ring. The coiled snake, with graduated old-cut diamond crest and red gem eyes. Principal diamond estimated weight 0.65ct, I-J colour, P1 clarity. Hallmarks for Birmingham, 1891. Ring size M. Weight 8.9gms.

<li>Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/wear, discolouration, in keeping with general age and wear.

<li>Minor dents and abrasion to the snake head.

<li>Red gems show signs of abrasion, one in particular has a significant chip and noticeable damage.

<li>Band is slightly out of shape and also shows evidence of resize, soldering line is visible.

<li>Diamonds fairly well matched.

<li>Diamonds fairly bright.<p>

<li>The three smaller old-cut diamonds have an estimated total weight of 0.10ct.

<li>Diamond section of the ring is a later replacement.

<li>Length of ring head 1.8cms.

<li>Stamped 375, hallmark setting is chipped.
