A Japanese Meiji period carved ivory okimono. Possibly mammoth ivory, modelled as a bird (probably a phoenix) holding a scroll, over a bijin standing on a stone bridge, a crab beneath, incised concentric rings and a seal mark beneath, the reverse rough-cut, 9", (23cm) high.
