Lot Description

An unusual mid 19th century rosewood and marquetry sofa table, the quartered top of arc-en-arbalete outline, profusely inlaid in satinwood with foliate scrollwork, over conforming flaps and a three division frieze drawer, raised upon octagonally faceted end standards and stretcher, terminating in four double scroll feet with brass castors, 27" closed/43" open x 25" x 29" (69cm/109cm x 63cm x 73cm).

Some scratches to one quarter of top, and minor edge flaws to two others. Further cracks and repairs to top leaves, slight fading to rear frieze, overall colour still good and minimal warping to drop leaves. Some areas of marquetry have glue residue to borders suggesting minor renovation.
