Lot Description
A pair of Georgian late 18th century Portuguese silver and gold, chrysoberyl earrings. Each designed as pave-set chrysoberyl interlocking circles and stylised floral line, suspended from a similarly-set cluster surmount, with gold bead highlights. Length 5.6cms. Total weight 17.9gms.

Condition Report
<li>Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches and small dents in keeping with general age and wear.
<li>Earrings have been altered, very likely to have had bow spacers at some point, now removed.
<li>Replacement fittings.
<li>Only a few of the gems have been tested due to setting restrictions.
<li>The gems are foil back, in closed back settings. The foil backings show deterioration.
<li>Chrysoberyl appear a medium yellowy green to slightly yellowy green, varied inclusions.
<li>Gems in fair condition, most with significant abrasion, many with nibbles and small chips.
<li>Screw back fittings for non-pierced ears.
