Lot Description
A mid Victorian gold diamond and garnet brooch. Of circular outline, the old and rose-cut diamond star, set atop the circular garnet cabochon, with bead and rope-twist geometric surround and snake-link fringe. Principal diamond estimated weight 0.20ct, J-K colour, P1 clarity. Length 7.3cms. Weight 24.1gms. With unassociated case.

<li>Overall condition good. Minor surface scratches/wear in keeping with general age and wear.
<li>One strand of the fringe has been repaired, only partially articulated, discolouration and soft solder visible.
<li>Probable replacement pin.
<li>Glazed panel to reverse.
<li>Diamond fairly well matched, principal diamond appears to draw more colour.
<li>Diamonds fairly bright.<p>
<li>Individual size and setting of rose-cut diamonds prevents accurate weight estimation and colour and clarity assessment.<p>
<li>Diamonds with some small dark inclusions.
<li>Garnet is presumed foil-back, appears a dark, deep red hue, with good clarity and typical inclusions.<p>
<li>Garnet in good condition with minor abrasions.<p>
