KUTCHINSKY - a mid 20th century 18ct gold diamond and gem-set brooch. Designed as a textured cockatiel upon a branch, with pave-set diamond head, ruby eye and pave-set amethyst breast. Maker's mark for Kutchinsky. Estimated total diamond weight 1.25cts. Hallmarks for London, 1959. Length 8.9cms. Weight 33.8gms.

<li>Overall condition good. Some surface scratches and very minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.
<li>Acid discolouration to the back of the birds head.
<li>Diamonds bright and well matched.
<li>Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.<p>
<li>Few, minor, scattered small inclusions.
<li>The ruby is a deep medium slightly purplish red hue, well saturated, typical inclusions.
<li>Amethyst are a fairly well matched pinkish purple to purple, slight variation in tone and saturation.
<li>Amethyst with minor to moderate abrasion.
<li>The hallmarks and maker's mark are worn, partially indistinct.
