Lot Description

A late Georgian gold, garnet and split pearl brooch. The oval-shape garnet floral cluster, with split pearl and cannetille surround. Converted from a clasp. Length 2.3cms. Weight 7.9gms.

<li>Overall condition fair to good. Some surface scratches/ wear, discolouration and minor dents in keeping with general age and wear.

<li>Various jeweller-type scratch marks to the back of the brooch.

<li>Brooch fittings are later.

<li>Gems are very likely replacements.

<li>Clasp could still be re-converted with the brooch clasp attached to the clasp tongue which is still detachable.

<li>Garnets are a pink and deep slightly brownish red hue.

<li>Garnets are presumed foil back.

<li>Split pearls are well matched.
