Lot Description
An Edwardian gold aquamarine and diamond brooch. Of openwork design, the cushion-shape aquamarine, within a vari-cut diamond overlapping ribbon surround. Estimated dimensions of aquamarine 21 by 20.1 by 15.3mms. Estimated total diamond weight 1.50 to 2cts. Length 4cms. Weight 21.8gms.

Condition Report
<li>Overall condition good. Some surface scratches/ wear and discolouration in keeping with general age and wear.
<li>The scrolling backing mounts to the reverse are believed to be later replacements.
<li>Front electronically tests as approximately 18ct gold. Replacement backing tests as approximately 9ct gold.
<li>Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
<li>Fellows does not guarantee the standard of gold or platinum unless an item is hallmarked. Results from electronically tested items should only be used as a guide and with caution, as false readings are possible.

<li>Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.<p>
<li>Aquamarine is a deep medium, moderately greenish blue hue, well saturated.
<li>Good clarity with slight light fingerprint type inclusion towards the culet and very slight rain.
<li>Noticeable windowing effect to centre of stone.<p>
<li>Aquamarine in good condition with a few small chips/nicks to the girdle, culet and few facet edges.<p>
