A 1970s 18ct gold carved and faceted sapphire articulated drop brooch, with diamond highlights, by John Donald.
Estimated total diamond weight 0.25ct, G-H colour, VS-SI clarity.
Hallmarks for London, 1971. Length 6.8cms. 40.7gms.

<li>Overall condition good. General light marks and wear in keeping with age. <li>Pin appears to be a replacement, does not fit well to the clasp. May require shortening.<li>Maker's mark or John Donald. <li>Estimated dimensions of largest carved sapphire 21.2 by 14.2 by 5mms. With small drill hole to the top. Does not appear well fitted to mount.<li>Calculated weight of one larger faceted sapphire 0.78ct, based on estimated dimensions of 8.2 by 6 by 2mms. <li>Carved sapphires are a fairly deep slightly violet blue hue, with an opaque to translucent appearance. With some surface reaching inclusions. Some light abrasions and nicks.<li>Facet sapphires are a fairly deep to medium blue hue, with some slight greenish undertones, with good clarity and some typical inclusions.
