Lot Description

A late 18th to early 19th century gold portrait miniature pendant, depicting an officer of the First Royal Regiment of Foot, by Richard Cosway (1742-1821).

<li>Overall condition very good. Minor signs of wear in keeping with age. Few small dinks and scratches to the metal.

<li>Portrait believed to be signed and dated 1809 to the reverse.

<li>Portrait in good condition, with well retained colour saturation and no obvious signs of damage.

<li>Estimated dimensions of portrait 80 by 68mms.

<li>With hair work, split pearl, blue glass and opalescent glass to the reverse.

<li>Hair work appears well formed and in good condition. One of the gold threads appears slightly out of place.

<li>Blue glass appears in good condition, with no obvious abrasions. Glass panel covering the hair work with some light scratches and abrasions.

<li>Split pearls in good condition, with some slight dirt and discolouration.
