A late Victorian gold amethyst and enamel brooch.

Length 6.8cms. 24.9gms.  
With fitted case.

<li>Overall condition good. General light to moderate marks, wear and discolouration in keeping with age. Gilt finish to the top section of the brooch appears more worn that the drop. Cannetille work and rope-twists appear in good condition.

<li>Drop section is detachable.

<li>Amethysts are a fairly deep slightly violet purple hue, well saturated, with good clarity.<p>

<li>Amethyst in good condition with minor nicks and abrasions.<p>

<li>Enamel with some nicks and shallow chips. Not immediately obvious to the unaided eye.

<li>Length of drop section 3.4cms.

<li>Width 4cms.

<li>Metal tests as approximately 20-21ct gold. Possibly 18ct with high carat gilt finish.
