A Georgian faceted black glass cross pendent necklace, with felt bow clasp and matching earrings.
Length of necklace 34cms. Length of earrings 3.3 and 3.5cms. 44gms.

<li>Visible, discoloured repairs.
<li>Alterations.
<li>Clasp believed later. Velvet is significantly worn.
<li>Most black glass gems appear to be held in place with a lack pitch-like material to the reverse.
<li>One black glass gem cracked in two, appears fairly stable in mount, two with large chips, some with small chips/nicks.
<li>Some gems set at an angle. Some gems with black pitch-like material visible at surround.
<li>Length of cross 5.7cms.
<li>Earrings with hook fittings for pierced ears.
<li>Case appears fitted to the necklace, with brooch aperture. There does not appear to be a fitting for the earrings.
<li>Electronic testing varies, mostly tests between 14ct and 9ct gold, some areas test as base metal.
<li>Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
