A Georgian gold emerald, old-cut diamond and black enamel mourning brooch for the self-styled 5th Baron Widdrington.

<li>Overall condition good.
<li>Replacement 19th century engraved star surround.
<li>Replacement clasp.
<li>Script reads 'H F [ID?] Widdrington Ob' 27 Aug' 1774 Ad 74'.
<li>Diamonds appear relatively bright and well matched.
<li>Diamonds size and setting prevents accurate assessment of colour and clarity. Few appear P1 clarity.
<li>Emerald in clsoed back setting, presumed foil back and apepars a bright, vibrant, slightly bluish green hue.
<li>Emerald shows minor nicks.
<li>Surround electronically tests as approximately 15ct gold.
<li>Centre electronically tests as approximately 10ct gold.
