B-Uhren watches belonged to the Luftwaffe and were given to navigators before each flight during their bombing campaigns. Navigators would set their watch to standard time of the German Naval Observatory after receiving a signal beep from the airbase. With accuracy being of paramount importance, B-Uhren watches were regulated and tested to the highest chronometer standards and after each mission were returned to the Luftwaffe.

Alongside four German manufacturers, IWC were the only Swiss watchmaker to produce the B-UHR. 1200 IWC examples were made making it one of the rarest of the five variations.
