A late Georgian gold foil back garnet rivière necklace. Length 41cms. 25.1gms.  

<li>Surface scratches in keeping with light wear.

<li>Repairs to central garnet mount and repairs to links, mostly near clasp.

<li>Few links appear later additions.

<li>Central link with hinged loop to suspend a pendant.

<li>Garnets are in closed back, presumed foil back settings.

<li>Garnets appear a fairly bright deep slightly purplish red to bright, light medium slightly pinkish, purplish red hues.

<li>Garnets with minor to moderate facet edge abrasion. Few with small nicks.

<li>Approximate width 0.7cm.

<li>Electronically tests as approximately 9ct gold.

<li>Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
