Lot Description

A late 19th century 18ct gold opal and old-cut diamond cluster half-hunter fob watch, retailed by Streeter & Co. Ltd. with later surmount and lobster clasp.

Opal estimated dimensions 16 by very approximately 4.3mms.
Estimated total diamond weight 0.75ct.
Dust cover engraved 'Examined by Streeter & Co. Ltd. 18 New Bond St. London.'
Swiss marks, stamped 18K. Length (including surmount) 4.3cms. 23.2gms.

<li>Surface scratches, varied discolouration.

<li>Diamonds appear bright and mostly well matched.
<li>Diamonds estimated G-tinted colour, VS2-P1 clarity. Diamonds graded within the limitations of the mount.
<li>Opal has a white body colour. Good play of colour across a range of hues.
<li>Minimal abrasions. Internal craze/crack visible across the bottom of the gem. Estimated dimensions are visible dimensions.
<li>Half hunter face has guilloche engraving, enamel deficient, losses to black enamel numerals.
<li>Dial appears in good condition.

<li>Not currently ticking, appears over-wound, may require attention.
<li>Surmount and lobster electronically test as approximately 14ct gold.
<li>Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
