Lot Description
A late 18th/early 19th century gold painted box, the lid believed to depict a version of 'Le Sacrifice à l'Amour', the base with putti bathing and the sides with a procession of putti.
Foreign marks, indistinct. Length 6.2cms. 63.5gms.

<li>Scratches, small dents. Wear to the gilt finish.
<li>Minor loss to the inner surround on the lid.
<li>Marks to the inside rim on the lif and to the interior of the base. Marks are extremely worn, most illegible.
<li>Base believed to have been coated with a later varnish, noticeable crazing/cracking and slight flaking to the varnish.
<li>Base with small scattered white debris.
<li>Paint generally appears in good condition.
<li>Electronically tests as 15-16ct gold to the exterior mounts and 18ct gold to the interior.
<li>Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
