Lot Description
A mid to late 19th century gold and turquoise mounted shell cameo and glazed panel swivel brooch, the shell carved to depict a village scene.
Length 6.8cms. 31.2gms.

<li>Surface scratches and minor dents. Varied discolouration. Base metal pin.
<li>Few moderate dents to the surround.
<li>Minor damages to one of the leaves.
<li>Damages to the shell mount.
<li>Shell depicts a barnhouse village scene, a man perched upon a barrel playing an instrument for a couple dancing. Fine cracks to the top of the cameo.
<li>Turquoise appear a medium blue through deep green hues. One turquoise chipped. Glue visible to few mounts. General slight abrasions.
<li>Electronically tests as approximately 20ct gold, presumed gilt finish interference.
<li>Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
