A late 19th century silver and gold rose-cut diamond crescent brooch, with star sapphire cabochon accent.
Sapphire calculated weight 18.28cts, based on estimated dimensions of 15.5 by 12 by 9.1mms.

<li>Surface scratches and small marks. Varied discolouration/tarnish.
<li>Replacement brooch fittings. Pin is slightly loose.
<li>Small split and wear to the gallery.
<li>Sapphire and mount are presumed later, one claw deficient.
<li>Diamonds appear fairly bright and well matched.
<li>Individual size and setting of diamonds prevents accurate colour and clarity assessment.<p>
<li>Smallest rose-cut diamonds significantly chipped, four of the larger rose-cut diamonds variously chipped.
<li>Sapphire appears a slightly greyish blue. Colour zoning visible along growth lines.
<li>Sapphire shows faint asterism under diffuse lighting and good asterism under focused light, thin lines, fairly central.
<li>Sapphire mount electronically tests as approximately 14-15ct gold.
<li>Crescent mount electronically tests as approximately 8-9ct gold and silver.
<li>Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
