Lot Description

A Georgian gold cannetille, foil-back amethyst, pink topaz, split pearl and turquoise brooch.

Length 4cms. 7.8gms.

<li>General marks, small scratches, discolouration and wear. Two dents to reverse of one pink topaz setting. Small area of cannetille deficient.
<li>Soft solder visible to fixtures of base metal pin and hinge components.
<li>Foil-backing with notable discolouration and wear, some debris visible between stones and foil-backing.
<li>Three topazes have lifted or shifted slightly in settings, though appear to be secure.
<li>Topazes appear to vary from a light pink to a pale slightly yellowish pink hue.
<li>Topazes mostly with light abrasion and some light nibbling to facet and girdle edges.<p>
<li>Amethyst appears to be a deep purple, well saturated with good clarity.
<li>Split pearls with some banding and crazing to nacre, one appears to have moderate damage to top layer of nacre.
<li>Split pearls are golden in body colour, with a pink to gold overtone.
<li>Turquoise are a light to medium blue colour with typical dark mineral inclusions visible to three. 
<li>Yellow metal electronically tests as approximately 18ct gold.
<li>Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
