Varied scratches and general discolouration.
Latch component of the outer cover on the front of the book is deficient.
Enamel with minor losses and surface marks.
'Book cover' open outwards, cross, heart and anchor panel is hinged at the surmount, opens to reveal a lock of hair behind and aother thinner glazed panel to the back.
Stated length includes durmount loop, length excluding 2.5cms.
Electronically tests as approximately 18-20ct gold, possible gilt interference.
Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
