A composite Georgian gold garnet and enamel mourning ring.

Condition Report
Surface scratches and minor marks.
Ring head is later replacement to the band.
Ring head comprises a hairwork foliate or tree motif with garnet surround.
Hairwork ground is faded. Glass shows moderate abrasions.
Garnets are in closed settings, presumed foil back and appear varied pinky red through deep slightly purplish red hues.
Three garnets chipped, two cracked, general slight abrasions.
Band is black enamel with script. Enamel shows general surface chips/abrasion.
Band reads 'Lau. Chandler Ob: 22: July 1769 AE: 66'.
Length of ring head 1.3cms.
Electronically tests to band as approximately 18ct gold and to the ring head as approximately 16ct gold.
