Lot Description
A late Georgian gold fancy-link long guard chain, with gloved hand clasp gripping an ouroboros snake.
Length 150.5cms. 36.8gms.

Condition Report
Surface scratches and minor marks.
Chain is broken near clasp, currently re-attached with coloured string, and near the other side of the clasp, re-connected with a jump ring.
Chain shows various areas of discolouration, presumed repairs.
Clasp is set with a turquoise and ruby.
Turquoise shows general abrasion. Ruby shows varied wear to the mount.
Length of clasp 2.7cms (including connecting rings).
Approximate diameter of links 0.4cm.
Electronically tests to areas of the chain (not discoloured) as approximately 16ct gold.
Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
