Lot Description

A Georgian gold and enamel double-sided mourning locket, containing two locks of hair.

Marked to the mounts 'Robert Cooper Lee died 20 Mar 1794 aged 58' and 'Priscilla Lee died 18 Oct 1797 aged 59'.
Length 3.8cms. 12.4gms.
With red leather case.  

Robert Cooper Lee was Crown Solicitor in Jamaica, his grandson and namesake Robert Cooper Lee Bevan was influential in the development of Barclays Bank.

Discolouration, possible soft solder where the surmount attaches.

Surmount and core appear a different colour than the gold circles containing the enamel, circles may be a higher carat of gold, unable to accurately assess due to enamel and setting.
Electronically tests as approximately 9-10ct gold.
