As 2024 draws to a close, let's celebrate the highlights of an incredible year at Fellows Auctioneers with our 2024 round-up! We hosted over 100 auctions across the year, including four extraordinary private collections.
Selecting our highlights from the extensive amount of lots on offer was a tricky task. But, after much deliberation, we've curated a list of our favourite items of the year from each department.
As we look forward to the exciting year ahead, we wish you a joyous Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Jewellery 2024 Round-up
To kick off our list of highlights, we are starting with our biggest sale of the year. This massive 15ct diamond with a VVS clarity grade was a truly memorable and rare item to come through the auction house. The resulting sale of over £92K astounded everyone.
This gorgeous collection of diamond bracelets is a highlight due to its unique ability to transform. This dazzling bracelet can be effortlessly connected to make an elegant necklace, offering endless style possibilities.
One necklace, two looks. This exquisite mid-century necklace, adorned with 30 carats of platinum-set diamonds, is a testament to luxury. Its versatile design allows it to effortlessly transition into a beautiful bracelet.
Watches 2024 Round-up
Arguably, the most captivating watch was the Cartier London Tank which excelled way past its estimated pricing. The vintage Cartier Tank watch made history at Fellows Auctioneers, selling for a record-breaking £44,850. This is due to its London provenance, 1973 production date, and the rarity of its original clasp and case, all in exceptional condition.
Fellows was proud to present a rare 17th-century pocket watch by Isaac Perrot. Its unique leather case, adorned with intricate white metal piqué, echoes a similar design in the Historical Museum of Basel. This exquisite timepiece showcases the innovative craftsmanship of its era.
This year, Fellows had the privilege of presenting a selection of iconic diving watches. Among them was this extraordinary 1968 Sea-Dweller. A highly coveted piece, these early models are incredibly rare, as their limited production and use in saturation diving have significantly reduced their numbers.
Antiques, Silver and Coins 2024 Round-up
The Baker collection auction in early September featured a true masterpiece: a Joseph Knibb timepiece. This exquisite clock, a testament to Knibb's innovative genius, represents the pinnacle of 17th-century English clockmaking.
Tiny but mighty. This unassuming 1841 sovereign, weighing in at a mere 8g, fetched a staggering price at auction. Its rarity and historical significance made it a hot commodity, selling for nearly four times its estimate.
These limited-edition silver 'surprise' eggs, often produced in runs of just 100, conceal exquisite scenes within textured shells. Decorated with gilt, enamels, and intricate details, these ornamental eggs are designed to delight.
Designer Handbags 2024 Round-up
The first item from our designer round-up, a Chanel Tweed Mini Flap bag, was a part of our summer auction. The delightful multicoloured bag from their 2016 Cruise collection made for a perfect statement piece for the season.
Our last Designer Handbags auction of the year held a surprise: a nearly perfect 20-year-old Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami bag. As Louis Vuitton gears up to re-release the collection, this rare find ignited excitement among collectors.
This year, Fellows was thrilled to offer a diverse selection of Birkin bags. Among them was this extraordinary Pink Dalmatian Buffalo Birkin, a truly iconic and exclusive design.
Bring on 2025!
At Fellows, we're eagerly anticipating the exciting and unique items that the new year will bring. We hope you share our enthusiasm for what's to come!
