Fellows Auctioneers is proud to announce the latest academic achievements within its jewellery department, strengthening its position as a leader in the UK auction world. This month, three team members achieved prestigious gemmological qualifications, further elevating the expertise within the already highly skilled department.

Three New Industry-Leading Gemmology Qualifications

The Jewellery Department at Fellows now boasts two additional holders of the Diamond Diploma (DGA) and one new Fellow of the Gemmological Association (FGA) - qualifications regarded as the highest accolades in gemmology education from The Gemmological Association of Great Britain (Gem-A).

These achievements underline Fellows’ dedication to excellence, education, and continuous professional development in the jewellery and gemstone industry.

What Are the DGA and FGA?

  • The Diamond Diploma (DGA) focuses on the science, grading, and identification of diamonds, offering in-depth training in theory and practical techniques.

  • The Gemmology Diploma (FGA) is considered the most prestigious gemmology credential, covering the comprehensive study of all gemstones and offering advanced gem-testing expertise.

Supporting Professional Growth at Fellows

Fellows Auctioneers actively promotes ongoing education in the jewellery and watch sector. The company funds professional qualifications for staff and allows time off for study and exams. With weekly auctions offering exposure to a wide variety of jewellery and gemstones, Fellows provides an exceptional learning environment.

Helen Foster, Cert. GA DGA, shared her thoughts:

"The course gave me a greater depth of understanding about diamonds and strengthened my practical knowledge. Fellows supported me throughout – from paying for the course to providing invaluable mentorship and encouragement."

Sarah Dunnbukhari, FGA DGA, noted:

“The Diamond Diploma was an intensive blend of theory and practical work. It felt more like a master’s degree than a diploma.”

Rosemiranda Hibbert, FGA, added:

“Attaining FGA status is a significant accomplishment. Fellows made this journey possible by giving me access to a vast range of jewellery and supporting my study time.”

Paul Greer, International Head of Jewellery, praised the team's accomplishments:

“It’s great to have two more DGAs and another FGA on the team. Their achievements enhance our department’s reputation and showcase Fellows’ commitment to knowledge and professionalism in the auction industry.”

With 17 gemmologists already on staff, Fellows continues to invest in education, keeping its team and auctions ahead of the curve.
