Full Lot Description

A mid-20th century Scottish silver presentation vase, designed by Cyril Shiner, the circular waisted form lightly planished and having a gilt interior, the upper body engraved with a coiled snake around a staff, and five keys, above a band of gilt bosses around the waist, and engraved below 'In honour of Dr. L.T. Clarke May 18th. 1900 - January 4th 1963' "Nobby". Hallmarked Robert Edgar Stone, Edinburgh 1963, and further engraved to base of foot 'Designed by Cyril J. Shiner'. Height 9.5" (24cm), weight 18.75 ozt (583 grams).

  • Of heavy gauge and appearing in good overall condition.
  • Displaying some general light surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing.
  • A couple of minor surface dints.
  • Some minor surface nicks, especially around rims.
  • Some slightly heavier scratches and scuffs to the base of the foot rim.
  • Gilding to interior of vase is very bright.
  • Hallmarks are clear and legible, as are the presentation engravings.
