Lot Description

William IV silver vinaigrette the rectangular hinged body with engine turned detail, reeded border and carved lip opening to reveal a gilt interior with pierced hinged grill. Hallmarked Birmingham 1833, makers mark rubbed ?&S. Length measuring 1 1/2 inches (4 cm).

The vinaigrette has general wear in keeping with the age and use with general scratches, marks and some surface tarnishing. The lid has become a little concave. there is some rubbing to the engine turned decoration in areas of contact, the cartouche is currently vacant, this may of had an engraving removed. To the inside there are remnants of old polish also with some added pitting to the surface of the silver. The hallmarks are part rubbed in keeping with the age of the piece and the makers mark indistinct as mentioned in the description.
