Lot 34

Lot Description

A pair of silver Corinthian column candlesticks, with stepped square bases and detachable sconces. Hallmarked Birmingham 1902. Height measures 4 3/4 inches (12 cm).

Postage: Auction Default

Weight: No

Total lot weight: No

The pair of silver Corinthian column candlesticks are in a fair condition commensurate to the age. There are general light surface wear and tear scratches, some small shallow dints and some pit marks. One candlestick sits flat on the surface, the other wobbles on its base. The detailing is slightly rubbed and the corners to the stepped bases are worn due to polishing and there is some build up of polish to some of the detail. The main solder join to each candlestick is becoming visible. The bases are filled. There seems to have been a repair to one of the detachable nozzles as beaded detail has been loss due to the over flow of solder. The hallmark to the base of each candlestick is rubbed but legible, the repaired nozzle has a legible corresponding hallmark, the other nozzle is matching but with a later dated hallmark.
